Super Affiliate Handbook, by Rosalind Gardner (Skip directly to my Overall Verdict)
(Review by Kimberly Brown)

  • Purchasing this eBook was the very first step I made towards investigating the various online profit-generating mediums.  A trusted friend gave me a link to The Super Affiliate Handbook and I decided to take the plunge and buy my first Internet ‘How to’ eBook.  Also, after reading the blurb, I liked that fact that the woman who wrote the book had no prior experience…she just wanted to change her lifestyle – just like us!

  • At this point in my journey, I was still working full-time as a Manager in the services industry.  I had no idea what affiliates where or how they worked.  Furthermore, I viewed websites every day, but I had no idea how to create them or get them on-line!

  • By reading the 270+ page Super Affiliate Handbook, I managed to gain an amazing introduction to affiliates which propelled me to take my first steps into the unknown.  The ebook discussed the following:

    • How Affiliate programs work (i.e. how to make money selling other peoples products and how the whole system operates.) (Click here for a definition on Affiliate Marketing)

    • How to become an Affiliate Seller along with some exceptional recommendations to the various networks out there. (I honestly had no idea how many companies there are that want to give you money for selling their products – there are 1000’s and they are name-brand)

    • Setting yourself up to become an affiliate (supposing that you didn’t have a computer and software yet..)  For me, this was a bit on the basic side, but would be very useful for those that are really starting with nothing...not even a computer or software!

    • How to come up with ideas and then research the possible profitability – actual proven methods on how to calculate the amount of profit that you could bring in.  Furthermore, she offers a list of the resources to use to get the research data (this was invaluable in my eyes…I would have had no clue if it wasn’t for the numerous links and recommendations on offer.)

    • The various different Affiliate Programs and their pros and cons.

    • How to choose which product or service to use (i.e. what will give you the best return).

    • Picking a domain, planning and building a site (top level information…which gives you a step in various directions).  For me, this section was a bit weak.  Having no idea how to get a domain or a hosting company, I would have liked to have had a bit more information on how it all works.  I did follow her instructions and managed to get my first domain and hosting company, however I was a bit scared and didn’t really know if I was doing it right.  Thankfully, the recommendations Rosalind made turned out to have amazing customer service and they helped me every step of the way.

    • Ways to promote and grow your affiliate business

    • Managing the various ongoing administration to the business

Overall Verdict on The Super Affiliate Handbook           Overall Rating - 8/10

  • Content – 8/10: For someone that didn’t know a thing about Affiliate Marketing, I now have a sound foundation on how it works, how to get myself involved, and several resources to help me along the way.  I felt that the section about getting your website created and on-line was a bit weak; however you can find help all over the web for that.  I also felt that her introduction to the 'pay-per-click' agencies could have been more comprehensive.  It would have been useful to understand how they work and tips on how to prevent the editors from rejecting your ads.  Overall, the content was very helpful - in all honesty, I managed to get this site up and running from her directions.

  • Flow & Style of Writing – 9/10:  I feel like I know Rosalind.  She writes in a very down-to-earth and matter of fact style.  She seems genuinely interested in helping people follow in her amazing successes.

  • Website & Presentation of eBook – 5/10:  If you’re like me and judge books by their cover, you might feel like it’s a scam.  Anyone who states that they made $436,797 selling other people’s stuff online just seems so un-true.  If it wasn’t for my friends’ recommendation, I wouldn’t have bought the book.  I’ve always believed that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is…Well, the best advice I can give you is that you shouldn’t let the cover deter you from buying this book.

  • Influence or Benefit to Me – 10/10:  The Super Affiliate Handbook has given me enough information to get this website online, sign up for affiliates and seriously realize that IT IS POSSIBLE to make money online and enjoy your life while you’re doing it!!  It is a MUST read for anyone that is new to the industry and eager to get a head-start.

  • Price - 8/10  For a book holding so much quality information, I was happy to pay $47.00 for it.  I seriously feel that I got my money's worth.

15 Powerful Ways CBMall Makes you money,by Jeff Mulligan (Skip Directly to  Overall Verdict)
(reviewed by Kimberly Brown)

I took the time to read this PDF eBook as it came FREE and didn't even ask for my contact details - surprisingly.

The whole thing seemed to baffle my mind. I might be wrong, but it seems like everyone that is out there making money, is making it on people like me who are interested in making money on the Net. I find it all a bit worrying as I don't want to make my money offering items simply because I get paid for it…It's like doctors getting kick-backs for prescribing medicine.. It just sucks.  You never know if someone is seriously trying to help you or just make a quick buck.

Anyhow, CBMall or ClickBank Mall is an interesting concept that does need more research (on my part).  So far, this is what I understand from the free eBook:

  • On Click Bank (Not CB Mall), there are 40,000 products that can be purchased and surfers can either go to the mall directly or click through from someone else's site.  If we were to send a surfer from our site, and the surfer bought the product we mentioned, we would make a commission on that product. (Rates are from 25%-75%)

    • The products on offer vary greatly, however it seems like there are quite a few eBooks, software items, and things you can have access to immediately after you purchase them.

    • In order to sign up to be an Affiliate and offer the various products, you simply go to www.clickbank.com (another window will open and this site will stay).

  • CB Mall (Not Click Bank) showcases the best selling products of ClickBank and allows us the wonderful privilege of becoming a CB Mall owner.  So....whenever we send someone from our site to the CB Mall, we make a commission on anything and everything they buy. (This even includes purchases made by the surfer clicking on a Banner Ad or Pop-Up within the Mall).

    • Along with becoming a CB Mall owner, they provide you with the following support and other ways to generate money:

      • Various ebooks on marketing tips & creating CB Mall profits

      • Commission from Newsletter subscribers we send their way- when we send someone to CB Mall and they decide to sign up to the newsletter, we'll get a commission any time that they click on a link from the newsletter for the unforeseeable future.  (We have nothing to do with it other than sending the unsuspecting sole to the site...if they sign up to the newsletter and eventually buy something, we make money).

      • Commission from a Free 7-Day Course that we refer someone to -  the surfer will run into the free 7-Day Course offer at some point during their visit to CB Mall and if we sent them, we'll get a commission on anything they buy from the course.  The course claims to offers valuable information however each day it is promoting a product sold in the CB Mall.

      • Distribution rights to the eBook that I'm reviewing (right now).  Throughout the eBook there are links to the CBMall and various other related sites - if we get our surfer to read the eBook and then sign up for the Mall, we get a commission. (we can also supply the eBook as a 15-day eCourse).

      • Search Engine - they give you code (at no extra charge...yes, I'm being facetious) to put the Search Engine box on your site - it searches the entire CB Marketplace (not just the Mall), and (guess what...) you get a commission on anything the person purchases.

      • Residual Income - apparently you can earn monthly commissions on subscriptions and things like hosting contracts. (Residual, or re-occurring revenue is always a good thing because you get pain month after month!)

      • The eBook goes into a bit of detail on the way it all works and the techie side of things.

Overall Verdict on 15 Powerful Ways CBMall Makes You Money   Overall Rating 2/10

  • Content – 3/10: I found it very difficult to understand concepts at first and had to reread the book a few times.  The actual content didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know, however I did find it very positive that CBMall are very proactive at giving people opportunities to make money; specifically the Newsletter and eCourses.  I guess that it peeved me off a bit that the eBook seemed to highlight things that were for *FREE* when they should be anyway...  I really find it off-putting when people try to dress mutton up as lamb.  I would not recommend this eBook to anyone...however it's free, so you might find something helpful...

  • Flow & Style of Writing – 1/10:  I didn't feel that it flowed and the organisation was a bit discombobulated (don't  you love that word).  After reading the book, several times, I felt unmoved and unmotivated.

  • Website & Presentation of eBook – 3/10:  It's okay - very basic.

  • Influence on Me – 2/10:  I'm going to keep my eye on ClickBank and the CBMall - in the event that we decide to create a site and the CBMall has a good product to link to, I might just sign up.  I'll keep you posted on my thoughts.

33 Days to Online Profits, by Yanik Silver and Jim Edwards (Skip Directly to Overall Verdict)
(reviewed by Kimberly Brown)
  • If you're following in my foot-steps or are similar to me in Online Marketing knowledge, this is a MUST BUY book.  I can now say that I know the steps involved in making my dreams a success.  I have the frame-work and the 'how-to' down pat and all that's left to do is get moving.  In all honestly, if I could go back and do everything over, I would have read Rosalind Gardner's book, The Super Affiliate Handbook and then read 33 Days to Online Profits before creating this website.

  • The one, and only problem, with the 33 Days to Online Profits is that the authors assume that you have a product to sell...and concentrate on the fact that your product is most likely an eBook or something instantly downloadable.  MY RECOMMENDATION... Read this book even if you don't have a product - that can come later and as you're reading, you'll be able to jot down ideas as you go...

  • These are the most important concepts that I found while reading the 246 page book, 33 Days to Online Profits:

    • How to write text that gets viewers to take action and buy (this is priceless)

    • How to create an Autoresponder sequence for your site - the whole name of the game is getting quality eMail addresses.  An Autoresponder works like this - you go to a website and enter your eMail address in a form so that the site author sends you a free eBook, free eZine/Newsletter, or a 5 day free course.  Immediately, you get an eMail sent to you holding the information and thereafter you may received a daily, weekly or monthly update from the author.  This can all be completed automatically by using an Autoresponder. (This is all used to create credibility and get your audience to trust you).

    • How to use Pay-Per-Click advertising and what works when creating titles and advertisement descriptions.

    • Submitting your site to Yahoo, Dmoz and the other major Search Engines - they give invaluable tips on how to do it correctly and in some cases beat the system.

    • How to use Google Adwords and what works best.

    • How to write and distribute eZines - these are paramount to online success...In fact, you could make tons of money with eZines and not have a website ever.

    • How to use forms and discussion boards to market your site rather than upset the editor and users.

    • How to find and create Joint Ventures - this section was worth it's weight in gold as it opens the multitude of possibilities out there.  Believe it or not, if you had an amazing eBook or product, you could find one Marketing Guru and get them to endorse it - by doing so, you could make thousands ($$$) in hours.  The authors give great examples for JV's, how to approach a potential partner, and follow-up.  Once you start to see the opportunities, I guarantee your head will spin.

    • How to launch your own affiliate program and how to track all your advertising.  What is working, what isn't.

    • How to *Up-Sell* and make money when people leave your website.

    • How to write articles for submission to other people's eZine lists.

    • How to survey customers and get valuable information to update your offering.

    • Linking Strategies and how to get your site's popularity up.

    • And so much more.

  • The 2004 edition to this book can be found at www.33daystoonlineprofits.com and if you do some serious surfing, you'll find that several other people sell this eBook directly from their website, (as opposed to linking up as an affiliate).  You can buy the resale rights and sell it from your site, if you wish.

  • The book comes with a free coaching class where the authors send emails offering motivation, accountability and tips & tricks.

  • You can also purchase a CD-ROM Videos based on the same topic (click here for more) This might be helpful if you dislike reading!

  • Yanik and Jim are two of the TOP Internet marketers, so learning from the best should be helpful.

Overall Verdict 33 Days to Online Profits          Overall Rating - 9/10

  • Content – 9/10: There is more content in this book than anywhere else I've looked!  Packed with how-to's, action lists, recommendations, and resources, anyone who reads it will get an exceptional grounding on making money online.  This is a must-read book!

  • Flow & Style of Writing – 9/10:  The flow and style of writing is chatty and easy-going.  There are no *big* words or foreign concepts.  Even when the authors decided not to fully explain something, they offer a link that gives full and comprehensive information.  Furthermore, the authors give incentive, excitement and make you feel as if they're holding your hand as you progress throughout the book.

  • Website & Presentation of eBook – 9/10:  The website is in the typical format of a sales letter.  I must say that I've always found these kinds of websites cheesy - yet look who bought the book...ME!  The cover isn't too bad and the actual page layout is fantastic.  There is a great mix of text and pictures to break up the monotony of reading.  I did, however notice that my printed copy did not display some of the text graphics well enough to read.  This may be down to the fact that I printed in draft quality...Either way, you can view those bits over the computer.

  • Influence or Benefit to Me – 10/10:  This book has influenced me so much that my brain actually needs a break.  After realising the actual potential that the Internet offers, I'm seriously freaking out (with enthusiasm).  I now have the tools to push forward and implement what I'm learning.  How exciting is that!

  • Price - 10/10  For a book holding more quality information than I could ever ask for, I was happy to pay only $29.00 for it.  I seriously feel that I got my money's worth.  Also, I received about 4-5 extra bonus books and resources.  Those have actually offered more amazing information.  This stuff is invaluable and I just can't believe that they're giving it out for $29.00!

  • The 2004 edition to this book can be found at www.33daystoonlineprofits.com.  I definitely received my moneys worth out of this book - the time and effort to search for all the data in one place could have been quite painful.  Don't wait, buy it now.  If anything, bookmark the page and put it on your list of things to buy for online success!

The Missing Link, by Rebecca Hagel  (Skip right to the Overall Verdict)
  • A speaker at the the last Online Marketers Networking event recommended Rebecca Hagel's 'The Missing Link,' as an informative source of information.

    • I always buy on recommendation - it's much less riskier than randomly purchasing eBooks - especially over the Net!

  • This book is for someone who already has a website and is looking to attract a target audience by successfully using a free incentive (i.e. free eBook, 1-month free service, etc.) both on their website or even in a newsletter or eMail.

  • As you'll notice - the Internet is full of FREE stuff.  People with websites offer almost anything to get you to sign up to their eNewsletter or free eCourse.  Hagel shows you how freebies can seriously hinder your success if done incorrectly and then offers suggestions on how to do it correctly.

    • Until I read this book, I did NOT realise the potential PROBLEM that freebies cause, nor did I realize how they can seriously help...It seems like there is a very fine line between doing it right or wrong and Hagel has tested what works!

  • Hagel offers great help on the amount of products your recommend and your frequency (if in an eZine)

  • A major asset within the eBook is Hagel's point-by-point, step-through guide to turning a Free eBook into Cash.  I was very impressed with this as I never understood the concept of making money from both readers (through affiliate links) and advertisers who want to go in the eBook.

    • If you're interested in creating a free ebook and know the industry and the content, read Hagel's book so that you can maximise the profit you make from it.  Please note that she doesn't tell you HOW to write the eBook...Just HOW to capitalize from it.

  • She also touches on making money with eZines and Forums and how to get some traffic to your site.

  • One of the things that I liked best about the eBook is that Hagel *experiments* with different kinds of sites and reports what works best.  I felt like I was getting solid evidence and understood her reasoning.

  • Because of Hagel's book, I managed to change my site around and stop offering everything for FREE - I now allow my newsletter subscribers to view notes that I've taken at Marketing events, past newsletters and any other goodies that I can find.  By doing so, it gives people a reason to subscribe to my newsletter...Otherwise, they could just look at my site and leave...

Overall Verdict The Missing Link       Overall Rating - 6/10

  • Content – 5/10: Comparing this eBook to 'The Affiliate Handbook' or '33 Days to Online Profit' you'll find that the content is minimal however written very well.  Hagel focuses on freebies and how to best use them - she then adds some other stuff to fill it out, but the book only comes to a disappointing 65 pages.

  • Flow & Style of Writing – 9/10:  The flow and style of writing is fine.  The eBook is easy to read and you could have it finished in a few hours.

  • Website & Presentation of eBook – 7/10:  The website is in the standard Long Copy format that all the experts seem to use.  There are no graphics, but the layout and copy is good.  The eBook comes as a pdf and is written in a nice readable font.

  • Influence or Benefit to Me – 8/10:  This book has influenced me in such a way that I totally changed my home page and restructured my site to have a subscribers-only area for those that subscribe to my site.  Since I changed my home page, my list has been growing 3 times quicker - I'm actually getting far more people to sign up!

  • Price - 2/10  The book was $49.00 which is OUTRAGEOUS!  If I had known that it was only 65 pages, I would have never purchased it.  In hindsight the book has totally benefited me, however I'm still not comfortable with that price.

  • The book can be found on http://www.marketingauction.com/missing_link.html.  I definitely received my moneys worth out of this book - however I don't feel 100% about it.  If you have a site and want to know more about freebies and how to use them, this eBook is worth a read!
