Definition:

  • eBegging or ePanhandling is at first, an unbelievable concept, but with time you can see some sense to it. eBegging is where an individual creates a website and asks the viewers to send them cash – sometimes the web creator offers information, entertainment or any thing that might be construed as valuable to the viewer.

  • In return for the contents of the website, the creator is looking for a donation; similar to a beggar who creates a sidewalk design or plays an instrument and puts a hat out for a coin collection.

  • Just like the real world, you sometimes get beggars that don’t do anything – they simply sit there with their baby or dog hoping that people will feel sorry enough to give them money.  Again, this same concept is reflected on the Internet.  I’ve come across a couple sites simply saying that they could use some extra money, and the donation is in exchange for nothing.  I have to say that those giving content or a service seem to be fairing much better than those that do not!

  • There is one website, which may be responsible for this recent eBegging revolution, called SavingKaren.Com.  Karen started out with a $20,000 debt and asked the public to help her pay off her credit card bills.  Karen managed to clear her debt by begging along with seeking help (i.e. reading books, professional advice, thrift tactics, etc.)  The whole thing is so amazing that Hollywood has bought the story it and will be coming out with a movie shortly. (Karen must be rolling in it now...)

How I Set Up eBegging on this Site

  • In order to collect payment from anyone on the Internet, you can simply sign up for an account with PayPal (click to read definition), insert some code on website that is automatically generated and start collecting donations.  It doesn’t take more than 1/4 hour to set the donation buttons up on your site and you certainly don’t need to know anything about coding…PayPal write the code for you!  Amazing – isn’t it?

  • So….if you like the content of my site and feel that I’m giving you some quality information, please feel free to 'Support Me!' and donate money to help me continue my research!  (or, if you're interested in viewing the donation buttons that PayPal gave me, check out 'Support Me!' anyway!)

  • The best advice that I can give to learn more about eBegging is to do a search for it on Google - you'll find some interesting beggars out there and if anything, it's a source of mindless entertainment.

  • The Saving Karen site is worth a gaze - she refuses to accept any more money (not that you're looking to donate...because if you are, please donate here!), but you can view her reviews, progress and site layout.

  • In my humble opinion, I wouldn't suggest this as a wise career move, but it doesn't hurt to try.  That amazingly wealthy "Mr. Old Toothless - but Wealthy - Brit Man" that I met some years ago (see About Me towards the bottom) may be out there and willing to donate millions!
