Definition:
- People use the search engine,
Google over 200
Million times per DAY making it one of the most used searching
facilities on the Net.
- Google Adwords are the small boxed advertisements seen on the right-hand
side of the search results. Each time an advertisement is clicked
on, the owner of the ad will pay a per-click price ranging from a few
cents to several dollars. The ads appear based on the surfers
keywords (the words entered into the search box). Each keyword has
a price attached to its popularity. In order to get to the top of
the ads, you simply have to pay the highest bid at the time.
- As you can imagine, Adwords allow people to
get their sites noticed! The whole key is to work out the cost of
running an Adword campaign versus the amount of sales you'll receive
from those incoming visitors. If Adwords can help you earn more
money...there's an opportunity!
- Additionally, if you think outside the box a
bit...we could actually run an add for one of the
Affiliates (click link to see definition) we've signed up for and not
even create a website. (Let me hear that Ahhhhh-Haaaaaa).
- For example, lets say that we've researched
several affiliate programs and found one that pays out 75% commission on a
widget. After researching the market, competing Adwords, and the price of
each click we can decide whether or not we have a high chance for a return on
our Adword investment. Rather than create a website to promote the widget,
let's simply go to Google and create an Adword campaign for it. This is
how it could work:
- Create text that will cause people to
click-through to the widget site (assuming that we've already signed up to
be an affiliate for the widget company). Add the affiliate web link
with your unique identifier.
- Decide on the keywords to use in order for
the ad to appear on the search findings
- Decide how much you're willing to pay per
day from 5 cents to 50 dollars. (After your budget is used up, the ad
will not appear until the following day). Wait for the results and carry on tweaking the
ad until you're achieving your maximum return on investment.
There seems to be a wealth of information on
creating Adwords, getting the best return, etc. so stay tuned for our further
research and actual trial of our own Adword campaign!
If you're eager to get started on your own, one
of the highest ranking 'How To' books on creating Adwords can be found at
www.googlecash.com (another window will open). I have NOT read this
book, so I'm merely reporting that it's selling very well and could be a way
forward if you're interested.

AdSence: While researching Adwords, I
also came across AdSence where those who qualify can allow Adwords to appear
on their personal sites. As another income generator, Google will actually pay
us a percentage for having the ads on our site. If you're like us, you
must be realising that there is definitely means and ways to create wealth
on the Internet...but it's going to take some research!
Update 12 Jan 2004 - I've applied to
have Adwords on my site to discover how it all works and to essentially
review the system. From the feedback I've received many people are
earning a bit of money using them...I've just added the AdSence words - it
was a simple as pie! This is how it works:
- Go to Google AdSence and fill in the
typical questions.
- Wait a couple days for approval.
- Agree to their terms and conditions
along with filling out the appropriate tax information.
- Go back to Google AdSence and then go to
Settings. Under settings there is an easy to follow method of
picking your colors, the way the ads display (mine are vertical, but you
can have them horizontal), and finally you just copy and paste the code!
- By far, this has been the easiest thing
I've done on-line to date!
- From what I gather, if you go click on
one of those sites, I make some money out of it! So before you leave
(not that I want you to!), make sure you find something on the left-hand
list and go there!
- Make sure that you keep coming back to
find out if I make on money with these!!
Update 16 Jan 2004 - It's been 3 full
days since I've had AdSence up and I've made around $5.33..not bad for
putting those little adds up..Is it?
